Hawaii Aug 2013

Funny thing, while in Hawaii just before leaving for Japan the only pictures I got were of a Japanese temple in Hawaii. (well, I did manage to get pictures at my nephew's birthday party)
Last time I was in Hawaii I didn't get to go to the Valley of the Temples, so I made a point to go this time. It was a lot of fun going with my brother and his family. Here Some of the pictures I took while there.

The fish were very popular.

We had to take off our shoes to go in, Arthur carried his with him. He didn't want to hold still and pose for a picture, but he humored me and his mom.

Little model in the making.

The kids wanting to play with the coin stretch machine. Arthur got to help me make mine.
Hahah, priceless A.J.

It was so hard to get a picture where you could see that cute little girl's face

Look at that little photo bomber!

New Adventure

It is time again to embark on a new adventure. I seem to get antsy after a little while and must do something adventurous. This time, well this time I am flying off to Japan, again, to study for a year at a university there.

First stop, Hawaii. Time to visit family to kick start the adventure. What better way to do that then visit Hawaii. As I type I am at the Seattle airport iting for my connection, we cheap people end up with multiple long layovers. I am hanging out with my little heilean coo, Tasgall.  It is amazing how long a 5 1/2 hour layover takes...
Here is my little Tasgall, he and I just finished lunch.

I will be spending a week with my brother and his family in Hawaii, and then I will be flying out to Japan. It will be quite exciting, I will spend a night in Tokyo with a good friend then take the Shinkansen (bullet train) down to Kyoto where I will be spending the school year at Doshisha university.

I will be posting pictures of my Hawaii adventure, Tokyo adventure, and my apartment all in a week or so. Plan on more frequent posts form me.

Ta ta for now.

Camping and hiking in Hawaii

I had quite a few fun opportunities while I was in Hawaii. I got to camp out on the beach with my friends and church group, beach and hiking trip with friends, and seeing a seal on the beach to just name a few.

This is the view of the sunset from out tent. I didn't think to take more pictures of our camp out, but I did get this.

Labor day some friends and I went to a picnic on the beach and this guy decided to come up on the beach and sunbath with us.

He totally ignored us and enjoyed the warm sand and sun.
It was interesting to see big shipping ships on the horizon.

After the beach picnic we went on a hike to Laie falls.

Just try and enter! Off to the side of the trail head has this welcoming sign.

Two of my hiking companions.

This totally reminds me of St. George, Ut.

They stayed a head of us the whole way.

I love the different trees that grow up together. :)

This grove of Ironwood trees is so beautiful and whimsical.

I don't know about you, but I do not associate this view with Hawaii.

Beautiful Ocean Views

There were quite a few points on the hike where there were beautiful Ocean views.

Another hiking companion passing by a creeping tree.

This hike has so many different types of landscapes, this area reminded me of the mountain hikes in Utah.

Finally the falls

Oh my... aren't I just so cute. At least it's proof I was there. ;)

The hike was a lot longer then expected, but that might just be because none of us really knew how long the hike was and how long it would take. But we had a real good time all the same. It was a fun filled day.

I have more pictures and things from Hawaii. Sorry this is so picture heavy, I hope I didn't bore anyone. Next adventure I will post things as they happen so I have better things to say.

Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor

We went to Pearl Harbor last December while my parents were visiting Hawaii. We took my 5year old nephew, so I didn't get a lot of pictures as I was the one watching him. We had a really good time. I don't remember the day we went, but it was almost Christmas. We were a little sad that we didn't go on Dec. 7th.

Bubbs really liked the hands on stuff.

He is really interested in how things work and had a lot of fun with the telescope.

My nephew and my younger brother posing with the large artillery gun.

He could have played a gunner all day long if we would have let him.

Two cool dudes, and two of my favorites. :)

It is amazing how big this gun is.

That is only a fraction of what is at Pearl Harbor, maybe I will get my mom's pictures and post some of them.
